Our Vision

Our vision is to achieve and sustain a state of transcendence. Our hope for the transgender and gender non-conforming community in Georgia as we face the epidemic in regards to our trans and gender non-conforming community facing trying times during incarceration. By empowering our community, positive influence will spread to other communities, perpetuating new positive images and burgeoning new opportunities

Our Values

Our core values are including those who are directly impacted by the work that we do. We believe that those who are closest to the problem are closest to the solution. We foster a space that allows for full transparency. We look to our community as the key source of leadership and insight, and we invest in the power of our people. We are committed to respecting and celebrating the full diversity of our community and to creating a fully inclusive TGNC community.

OUR STORY

TRANScending Barriers was founded on April 17, 2017, by  transgender women of color who experienced challenges and barriers in their own lives as a result of living in their truths as transgender.

The women at TRANScending Barriers Atlanta realized that during their times of troubles there was no one to turn to for help, they believe if they themselves had the guidance and care from other people who understood their experience, their past would have been significantly different for the better.
